happy days

in the early 2000s, uk garage at the time had become more aggressive and much darker. london garage clubs were filled with drugs and gangsters, who liked to resolve their disputes on the dancefloor. the party vibe was long gone. the happy days night in the aquarium was set to change all that. london's promoter legend timi ram jam wanted to recreate the early days of uk garage, which started in 1993, in the elephant and castle pub in south london. the djs there began to play american garage faster and harder so people left the nearby ministry of sound in droves and headed to timi's pub where uk garage was born. though the original garage nights have come and gone, the aquarium still hosts popular events for electric, hip hop and garage music.
