moss

the moss design store gives customers the feel of being in a design-museum. owner murray moss has sold innovative product design here since the opening in 1994. at moss the lines between art and industrial design are blurred. products are displayed in glass case or on a platform, just like in a museum. among the more unusual pieces are a philipp starck ak-47 rifle-lamp, burnt versions of the famous z-chair and provocative miniature sculptures of ‘buildings of disaster’ inspired by chernobyl,  watergate, the o.j. car chase and the attack on the world trade centre. next door, moss has opened a gallery. prices for the gallery artworks are quite high. exhibitions include artists, designers and industrial manufacturers with classic design products featuring varying design works like a clothes tree coat hanger, crystal lamps and nymphenberg sculptures. moss store and gallery customers are design professionals, celebrities, students and tourists. moss opens daily from 11.00 to 19.00, sundays from 12.00 to 18.00.
