richard ashcroft

richard ashcroft’s band, the verve, had already split up, when their music suddenly started selling. goaded on by the success, ashcroft made his band mates record another album. 'urban hymns' sold seven million copies and made the verve a super band. after that, the band split up for good. richard ashcroft is now a solo artist, ready to become the godfather of english indie rock. in his melancholic songs, he often speaks about the big themes of love, life and death. the former weirdo from small town wigan hits the top three chart positions with his first three albums: 'alone with everybody', 'human conditions' and 'keys to the world'. in 2010 he released 'the united nations of sound' and toured in support of it.
