uss intrepid

the uss intrepid is the biggest navel museum in the world. the intrepid served from 1943-76 as an us aircraft carrier in japan, cuba and vietnam. on the deck you will find old and modern navel aircrafts such as the a-12 blackbird. the a-12 is the fastest spy aircraft in the world. next to the aircraft carrier several other war ships and submarines can be seen. the uss growler is the only publicly accessible rocket submarine. high sea operations are simulated by visitors in the original operations room of the intrepid. 3500 sailors have lived under the 270 meter long deck. the intrepid-museum is open daily from 10.00-17.00.
