zen satori

zen satori was a restaurant with an integrated chef school. star chefs such as terry tan offered far eastern cookery courses for beginners and advanced cooks, in the kitchen above the restaurant. on each two hour course you could make four dishes. teachers such as terry demonstrated delicacies from thailand, malaysia, india, indonesia, china and vietnam. in asia knives are regarded as barbaric, which is why people there use chopsticks at the table. the secret of far east cuisine is the balance of yin and yang. every dish consisted of a mixture of either sweet, sour, bitter, salty, spicy or mild. unfortunately both the restaurant and the courses have since been closed. terry tan has since become successful as a broadcast and writer with over 30 cookbooks.
